It is very important to write a thank you note after your interview. Sending an email thank you note is just fine. If you want to write a handwritten thank you note too, that is ok. The important thing is that you remember to send one within 24 hours.
See example below.
Dear …
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about you and your company.
During our interview you mentioned…and I believe my skills….
I can be reached at (408) 420-8942 . I look forward to speaking with you about the next steps and I will also follow up with you in a few days.
Kindest Regards,
John Doe
Career tip for the day! Refresh, Refresh, Refresh…

Have you ever wondered why you don’t get a lot of phone calls after you post your resume on the job boards? Well the tip for the day is to remind you to refresh your resume every three to four days. If you leave your resume posted out in cyber space for more than a week, you will get lost in the black hole of cyber space. Recruiters, HR professionals, and Headhunters only look at the last two days of postings. So what this means is that you need to go into your monster.com and careerbuilder.com profiles and make a change to the resume section and then save changes and that will bring you to the top of the pile. For craigslist.com you will need to post a whole new resume.
Believe me, you will be getting 2-4 telephone interviews and several emails per week if you are consistent with refreshing. Good luck and have fun.
A great answer for those who don’t have a college degree..

During the interview process, sometimes you will be asked if you have a college degree, oh and by the way an AA degree is a two year college degree. The reason I mention the AA or AS degrees is because many of my clients dismiss their two year degrees. Ok enough about that. Most clients that I coach, who don”t have degrees feel very ashamed of it or inadequate. They fear that it will hurt them and squelch their chances of getting a higher salary or a better job. One of my favorite clients from London told me that when he is asked the education/college question that he replies like this, “yes, you are correct, I don”t have a college degree and I am no different than Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, and Michael Dell in that regard, and I think for similar reasons, that we are highly intelligent doers rather than academics, we got smart on the job.
